Celebrate Christmas in Inverness

We love this time of year here in Inverness! The nights are drawing in and there’s a chill in the air. Christmas is just around the corner. Inverness is a wonderful place to visit at Christmas. The city truly sparkles at Christmas and there’s always lots of events to delight all ages. Let’s take a closer look at what’s happening for 2022.

Brodie Illuminated

Visit from 2nd November (Wednesday to Sunday)

You can kick off the most wonderful time of the year with a visit to beautiful Brodie Castle. The stunning 16th-century castle is worth a visit any time of year but, at Christmas, it is extra special. Brodie Illuminated offers spectacular nighttime walks around the grounds of the castle. The castle itself is beautifully lit as well as the statues, sculptures and grounds. There’s fun for everyone with fair rides available on Saturdays and Sundays. Dobbies Christmas celebrations

Events from 1st November

Dobbies really know how to get their customers in the Christmas spirit. There’s lots happening from 1st November onwards. Christmas starts at Dobbies with their Festive Afternoon teas. You can indulge in freshly-made finger sandwiches, scones and sweet treats, including a mini Christmas pudding.

They’re also offering a festive 2-course meal with all the trimmings from 10th November. And your four-legged friends can visit Santa Paws from 3rd December.

Your little ones are invited to breakfast with Santa from 26th November, followed by a visit to see him in his grotto (quiet grotto also available). Visit their website to find out more.

Inverness giant Christmas Fayre

26th November

Inverness Leisure is holding their annual GIANT Christmas fayre with over 90 craft and local produce stalls. There will be a Santa’s grotto, live music and family activities to really get you in the mood. A great place to start your Christmas shopping, it’s the biggest Christmas fayre in the North of Scotland and definitely worth a visit.

Eden Court

Another place that knows how to celebrate Christmas in Inverness is Eden Court!

Join them for their Christmas fair from the 18th-20th November. With over 60 exhibitors, the stalls will be brightly decorated and you can browse each one in beautiful surroundings on the banks of the river Ness. Outside, you’ll be able to sample the delicious delights of local street food vendors.

Christmas is the pantomime season too. Eden Court’s panto starts on the 7th of December and runs right up until the 8th of January. You can join them on a magical journey with Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinkerbell in a swashbuckling panto adventure. Enjoy spectacular song and dance routines with all the traditional panto slapstick fun.

Winterwoodz

From the 9th of December

Discover the home of Santa’s magical postbox with your little ones. Deep in the forest is an ancient mailbox with a magical link to the North Pole. Take your children along to write their letters to Santa in the letter-writing workshop with the help of one of Santa’s elves.

Once the envelope is sealed, you’ll take a beautiful, illuminated walk through the forest, guided by your elf, to discover the magical postbox, with wonderful surprises along the way. Then, you’ll be able to warm up with a hot drink and cake as the letters wing their way to the North Pole via the magical postbox.

Inverness Ice Centre

16th-18th December

Inverness Ice Centre starts its Christmas celebrations on 16th December with its ice show, showcasing all of its star skaters. The winter wonderland festivities continue into the weekend with a Christmas market, Skate with Santa, carol singers and more. Inverness Cathedral

The beautiful cathedral in the heart of Inverness has a whole host of events throughout November and December. Lighting the Christmas tree, wonderful carol concerts, Bublé by Candlelight, special services and more. Contact the Cathedral for more information.
