The oldest alpine ski area in Scotland

The first ski tow was installed at Glencoe in 1955, making it the oldest alpine ski area in Scotland. Located near Glencoe village, the resort is 95 miles from Inverness and 74 miles from Glasgow. Operating all year-round, you can take part in both winter and summer activities here. However, it is most famous for its winter sports. With 20 runs and 8 lifts, the ski area caters for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Always check the snow report before visiting though, as the winter activities on offer depend on the amount of snowfall.

Activities at Glencoe Mountain

Winter activities on the mountain include skiing, snowboarding and sledging. The resort has a Snowsports School, which offers skiing and snowboarding lessons for all ages and abilities. In addition to the many ski runs, there is a sledging area, dry ski slope, chairlift and equipment hire. There is also a welcoming cafe, which serves great home-cooked food. The resort is open throughout the summer too, when the chairlift rides continue to operate. This is a wonderful way to enjoy the spectacular Scottish scenery, from 2200ft in the air! You can also take part in mountain biking, hill walking and tubing in the summer months.
